Let's not change anything on second units. We had a serious
debate on this a few years ago, and nothing has changed. It is
innappropriate to most of our neighborhoods and our smaller lot
sizes. It is a half [word omitted] way to provide marginal housing,
that destabilizes our neighborhoods and erodes the character,
quality of life, and property values of those who aren't
exploiting this proposed loophole. So kill it!

Adding second units to properties under 15,000 square feet is a
very bad idea. In Pasadena, we are already jammed up against our
neighbors on the sides which causes enough noise and privacy
issues. Adding second units means you could have 2 additional
neighbors. Noise from traffic, cars with loud stereos would also
increase. Properties with second unit are often not well maintained
in the first place. Adding more units only compounds the
maintenance issue. Naturally all the additional cars would also
cause Pasadena to become more polluted. If this passes I would not
want to live in Pasadena any more.
